Hi I'm Joey, a serial startup founder, served at 2 startups as Co-Founder / CTO before my current company. I have built teams, technology, and product from 0→1, and led fundraising. My previous company was accepted into one of the world’s most selective accelerators.
I was born and raised in China, got my B.S. in Computer Science in China. When I was applying for graduate school in the U.S., COVID-19 hit, and my plans were delayed. I began my career at Bilibili and later at Tesla, before eventually pursuing my master's degree at Carnegie Mellon University in Silicon Valley.
After CMU, I joined Google. Working there for two years were enjoyable, professionally comfortable, but personally restless. I realized I didn't want to spend a decade chasing a US green card or climbing career ladder. I wanted to build something great. I've read many biographies of great people and their early struggles, then start to build my own startup.
Looking back, I've always felt the gravity of environment, the quiet weight of you can't. Many of my high-school classmates returned to our hometowns, many of my college peers settled into city life under mortgages. I took a different path. It took me 2x, 3x, even 10x efforts, but it's worth. I became the first-ever student in my undergrad college history to get into a CMU-tier university for computer science. I'm grateful for the hard days, they taught me never to give up.
To me, wealth is a by-product, not a purpose. I've been through poverty, but never chased riches. As the artist Chen Danqing once said, "When you're young, you want big house, exotic car, and charming partner, those are good, but remember, they're desires, not goal."
Stretching the edge of my capability, taking control of my destiny, and keep moving forward. That's my life-goal. With 10x effort, 10x humility, and zero ego. I believe everything I dreamed of will come true, as long as I don't give up. That's where I came from - and how I keep climbing toward the dream.
